1992 - 1996

In 1990 I purchased a 1970 Chevelle from California with another friend of mine and we jointly raced it for two years. In 92 I bought a 77 Vega Wagon with a small block in it. I ran 9.50’s and raced it at ST. Thomas every weekend from 1992 – 1996. We were very successful.

When I purchased my Food Basics Franchise in 1996 I gave up racing to concentrate on business. I sold the franchise in 2004, decided to look into racing again. I followed Ron Shilling around the tracks for a few years to understand and learn more about it.

In 2008 I decided to build a new Mike Bos dragster. We started out with a 565 Gary Stinnett motor that ran 7.60’s, went to 598 cubic inch and ran 7.40’s, added an Aluminum block and ran 7.15’s, and finally, added Nitros and ran 6.70’s. Won some races, had a great time and enjoyed the tracks, the people and the interaction with fans. Today we are running a Blown Alcohol 477 cubic inch Chevy. We are running in the 6.40 – 6.60 range depending on the tune up.

Motorsports and Drag Racing

Motorsports and drag racing attracts a special type of individual - someone who has incredible passion, commitment, razor sharp focus, and a profound need for speed. And although this unites all racers, every driver is different … and their story is as unique as their car. How did they find this sport? Why do they love it? What makes them keep coming back for more? Why do people gather around them and support these racers with time, resources and financial backing? It’s simple, once it’s in your system, it’s hard to let go.
